He probably died as an infant.
There were two births of a child named Jas Murray Gordon - on 18th Nov 1826 in Kiltearn and on 22nd May 1828 in Contin. The parents of both were John Gordon and Lizy/Eliza Gordon.
These births were 18 months apart. Contin is 20 kms from Kiltearn. For the latter birth, John was at Craigdarrock which is 2 kms from Contin.
It could not be a coincidence that different couples partnered with these names decided to name their child with this distinctive name, within a short time, and so close geographically. And there were not many births - just 72 registered in Kiltearn in the 36 months 1826-1828, and 182 in Contin over that same period.
We must conclude that the first Jas Murray died as an infant, the family moved house, and they named their next child after the former.

Margaret's birth record has her registered in the Parish of Kirkhill, with her father, John at Bogroy. There is a place called Bogroy at Carrbridge that is 54 kms to the south-east of Kirkhill, Beauly (there is another Kirkhill at Fochabers - Bogroy is 58 kms south-west of that Kirkhill but it is not a Parish). With the distance of 54 kms, we cannot be confident that Margaret was born in Carrbridge. Maybe there is another place called Bogroy (or similar spelling) near to Beauly. We might get better clarity if we could work out where one of the witnesses was from (John Munro was from what looks like 'Kalagan' but it is difficult to read on the birth record, and we have not found a place with this name). | GOLLAN, Margaret Munro (I179)
