Conductor dies 2 min before broadcast: Mr Oliver H Finlayson, conductor of the Adelaide Choral Society, collapsed and died two minutes before he was due to conduct the choir in a broadcast over Station 5AN in a studio at Football House last night. He was 71.
After having taken the choir through its broadcast numbers, Mr Finlayson sat down five minutes before the time of the broadcast.
Three minutes later he collapsed.
He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he was found to be dead.
The choir?s broadcast was cancelled and replaced by a session of recorded music.
Mr Finlayson, who lived at Union Street Dulwich, was conductor of the Adelaide Choral Society since he founded it more than 30 years ago.
As conductor of the choir he competed in many Ballarat competitions.
Mr Finlayson leaves a son, Mr Harold Finlayson, and a daughter, Mrs AG Anson, of Craighill Road, St Georges. (source: Newspaper cutting)

HAMLEY BRIDGE - February 10th ? Presentations?
Mr. Oliver Finlayson, the hon. conductor of the Hamley Bridge choral company, which was successful at the Unley and Kapunda competitions in the choir section, was presented with a handsome gold medal, with an inscription thereon, and Miss Tamblyn who acted as pianiste for the company, was the recipient of a very nice dressing-case, The presentations were made at a social of members of the choir.
