Biography :
* Margaret might have been married to Alick who David stayed with at 8 Southside Place Inverness in 1901. David had come back from Australia for several months to be with a sick 'aunt'. In the context of the letter to his daughter, he seemed to have referred to people from his daughter's point of view - ie he refers to his wife as 'mother' and his sister Carry as 'aunt'. So it is probable that he was visiting his sister, and since he had only two sisters, and Carry is already accounted for, the person he was visiting must have been Margaret. And that person's husband was Alick.
* There must have been a close relationship between brother and sister (David and Margaret) because he came all the way to see her when she was ill in 1901. This was 36 years after he had left for Australia so we can assume that they must have a good deal of correspondence during those years.

Health :
* In 1901, when she was 58 years old she probably had a serious long term illness. At the time she was only able to go for outings (an hour's ride) a few times, this needed to be arranged for her and she was keeping "on the mend although weakly yet". |
