Eusebius was born on 8th December 1838 in Stilton, Huntingdonshire.
He was the youngest child of Ann and Matthew Wilson. His siblings included Thomas (born 1833), Robert (1835) and Susan (1837).
He attended the village school until aged 11.
At 14 he went to Scotland where he travelled around for two years.
At 20 he was in Coventry and worked as a baker for several years.
He was a local preacher at the Wesleyan Methodist.
In 1862, at the age of 24, he married Fanny Goodwin.
He went into business as a china dealer but did not prosper.
They decided to go to New Zealand -arriving around 1863.
He did some gold mining, opened a store. He did public speaking, preaching, was on the school and hospital committees, and was involved in several other societies.
He and Fanny had seven children in NZ - one died as an infant.
After 1875 the family went to Brisbane then South Australia where they settled in Mylor.
Eusebius became a government inspector, a representative of the Homestead League, and orchardist. He helped establish the local school, better main road, Methodist preacher and circuit representative.
He died in Mylor on 22nd April 1929. [1] |

* Fanny's age is hard to read, but if she was 81, this would indicate that she was born about 1839. This would have made her 7 years older than her husband.
