Nathalie was born on 7.10.1885 near Naracoorte, S.A. Most of her early childhood was spent at Strathalbyn and Point Sturt.
At the age of eleven, Nathalie moved with her family to "Watulunga" station near Finniss until her early adult years. It is presumed that it was here that she met her future husband, Eric Robertson, who had land interests at Finniss and possibly received some early training in farm management from his future father-in-law. Eric was the son of Dr William and Evelyn Robertson, nee Booth. Eric's "heart was set on the land" and at one stage he owned an orange grove at Lockeys, SA and a property called "Paralowie" at Salisbury, near Adelaide.
Eric eventually joined the staff at Harrington's Photographic Store in Adelaide. He also worked for Kodak and was an outstanding photographer. In an article printed in "Australian Popular Photographics" it was stated that Eric was one of the world's most outstanding amateur photographers in the field of character studies. He exhibited and received awards in many countries. He also took several portraits of his Gordon relatives.
During this period, Nathalie and Eric lived in Henley Beach and Mitcham (Adelaide suburbs). Upon the death of Eric's mother, they went to live with his father, who had retired. Nathalie cared for her father-in-law in his last years, as well as their own children, Douglas and Barbara. In later years she cared for her grandson Gordon Robertson, after the marriage of Douglas and his wife, Betty, had broken up.
Nathalie was a very resourceful woman, with a talent for home-making, and was a renowned creator of floral arrangements. She was a fine cook and hostess.
After Eric's death in 1955, Nathalie had the house divided into two flats, one being rented out. She died after a short illness in 1969 and is buried at Brighton, Adelaide.
