Immigration Margaret migrated with her 9 siblings on the 'Standard' in 1853. Her half brother, George and his wife had migrated to NSW in the 1840s and they came overland to South Australia, settling on the Torrens River before Adelaide had built out that way. George must have written to the family to encourage them to come out to South Australia after his father had passed away. Unfortunately their mother passed away one month before they were due to board the ship at Plymouth. The 'Standard' left Plymouth on 2nd July 1853 and arrived on 13th Oct 1853.   [3

2.60 - Henry SALTMARSH and Fanny, nee MAIDMENT
Henry was born in Yorkshire in 1819 and, at 19 years, he migrated to South Australia. Fanny Maidment was born in 1824 and migrated at 16 years. They married in 1845 and had seven children, three of whom died very young. The second child was Mary, who married David Finlayson, and the sixth was Annie, who married Alexander Gordon.
Fanny died at the age of 33. The next year, 1858, Henry married Margaret Rutherford. Of their six children, one was adopted and one died early. Margaret died in 1894.
Henry’s third marriage was with Ann Willesee Rains in 1897.
Only nine of Henry’s 13 children (including one adopted) survived to adulthood.
Henry died in Dry Creek in 1899 at the age of 79 years.
