Jessie was born on 24.8.1878 at Strathalbyn. As a young girl she helped Annie to raise the younger members of the family. She remained single and spent most of her life living with her parents.
Jessie accompanied her mother when she went to live in Geelong, Vic when their new home was being built on the "Glengarrie" farm at Wambi. It is known that she also went to Melbourne in 1922, where she worked and lived with a family by the name of Thompson, caring for their two young girls.
She returned to South Australia where she once again made her home with her parents at "Glengarrie", until she and her mother moved permanently to Collingswood in Adelaide, after the sale of "Glengarrie" upon Alexander's death. 'Fawley', the home in Collinswood, was where Jessie spent the remainder of her life. She cared for in her older years by her sister-in-law, Eva Gordon. Ron and Eva Gordon lived at 'Fawley' for a time.
Jessie was a very musical person and had a fine singing voice. She led the Nailsworth Church of Christ choir into her late seventies. She was also a very gifted pianist, self-taught after only three months tuition. It has been said by members of the family that under different circumstances, she could have received world acclaim.
Jessie made at least one trip to Tasmania, having good friends there. When in her seventies, she made the long journey from Adelaide to Kiama (on the N.S.W. South Coast) to visit her brother Athol, and his wife, Margaret.
She spent her later years in Adelaide, caring for her mother.
Jessie is buried beside her parents at West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide.
