    Notes for biography Note by Robyn Fisher: Esther Fanny Doel was probably born in Westbury, Wiltshire, England in 1800, the daughter of Job Doel and Hannah whose surname is unknown. 
    Notes for biography Note by Robyn Fisher: Esther Fanny Maidment, a widow, aged 66, died from typhoid fever on 18 June 1866 at the Everleigh Arms, Woodchester, near Strathalbyn, South Australia.
    The South Australian Register newspaper noted her death on Friday 29 June 1866 as follows: On the 18th June, at Strathalbyn, Esther Fanny, relict of the late Mr Charles Maidment, aged 66 years. The Maidment-Rogers Family Bible confirms Esther's date of death and age.
    According to the Police Station Records held at Mt. Barker for Strathalbyn, she was buried on 20 June 1866 in the Maidment plot at Strathalbyn. I understand there is no headstone.  
    Immigration Migration : Migrated in 1840 on the Charles Kerr which left Gravesend on 28th December 1839 and arrived in Adelaide on 6th March 1840. The captain was Harford Arnold. There were 216 passengers ? this included the parents and 8 children. (ref : Robyn Fisher)

    Wedding Note by Robyn Fisher: On 26 October 1819 when Charles was 24, he married Esther Fanny Doel, in the Old Meeting Independent Church in Westbury, in Wiltshire in England. According to the Nimrod Index, he put his mark, she wrote her name. The witnesses were Job and Hannah Doel. I am not sure as to the relationship the witnesses were to Esther. They were married by Rev. Henry Gwynther, Curate.

    Edwin was born in 1795 in Wiltshire. Esther was born about 1800 in Westbury. They married in 1819 and they lived in Bradford and Bradley. They had nine children. He was a carpenter and wheelwright. The family migrated to South Australia in 1840 and lived in various locations in south-east - notably Tin Pot. They were involved in haulage and then had the Evelyn Inn. One of their daughters Fanny, was the second wife of married Henry Saltmarsh. Another daughter, Sophia, was the mother of Fanny Ellis who was the second wife of David Finlayson.
